Information On The Railroad Dining Car

 The Railroad Dining Car was removed approximately in the late 1960s.

 This photo is about the same location as the last photo. This photo was taken from on top of a grain elevator in appriximately the late 1930s. Here you can see the Diner, the station would be Frank's Station, the house behind was the J.M. Goering home and Chippewa Church. The farm in the background is now the Wayne Lund farm.

Come Visit The Brandon History Center

 This week the John (Jack) Anderson family came to visit us at the Brandon History Center.  They contacted us several days in advance and set up an appointment for a visit.  The family and our board members had a marvelous time sharing family, school and Brandon History.  They spent a couple of hours with us and the time just flew by.  The Brandon History Center is usually open on Friday mornings but this does not work well for many.  We are happy to be open at other times for anyone.  Just contact us by e-mail and we will get back to you to set up a time that works for all.

Some of the Brandon Lion's Club are winding down and serving their last breakfast customer of the day. The Lion's Club put on a fantastic pancake and sausage breakfast Sunday March 30th.

Chippewa Park Gets New Bridge

DOUGLAS COUNTY — Chippewa Park near Brandon will soon be getting a new bridge. On Tuesday, March 18, Douglas County commissioners approved the bid for the contractor – which came in lower than the engineer’s estimate.

The bridge crossing would be used for vehicles and pedestrians to access the north parcel of the park.

The bid for the bridge work was awarded to Korby Contracting Company, Inc. out of Fergus Falls. The amount the contracting company submitted was for $432,808.40 – $51,558.70 less than the estimated cost of $484,367.10.

The cost of the bridge will come from three different sources – $150,000 from a DNR grant, $15,000 from the Brandon Fire Department and the rest would be county funds, according to Erickson.

He said there is no specified starting date, but all work has to be completed by Oct. 31.
